@vancouverutigirl: Interstitial Cystitis Diet & Home-made Recipes
I've improved 64% in 4 months in my urinary frequency and 100% in my stinging burning urine (went from burning drips to a normal stream) ever since I changed my diet. Other methods have helped as well, but food was the most noticeable factor and was an overnight game changer. However, one sad thing that has happened was that I got severe bladder pain that started in June that put me into a wheelchair and leaves me housebound in intense pain. I don't know why and it makes it so painful to even move or walk at all.
My Instagram is @vancouverutigirl. You don't need an Instagram account to view it, it's open to everyone. I made this instagram because my chronic UTI and IC symptoms made me intolerant of 90% of foods in grocery stores and restaurants. I went hungry and starved down to 83 lbs of skin and bones because I was too terrified to eat. Lots of IC diets on the internet weren't working for me because a bunch of their recommendations flared my bladder! My body was shutting down and my family freaked out because I looked like a walking skeleton. One of my friend's kid was so mean, he said I looked like "Skeletor" from the He-Man cartoon. Grr, so I began to take matters into my own hands by experimenting with Interstitial Cystitis diets and recipes to gain my weight back. I try them out and modify them to ensure they are safe and bladder-friendly. IC diets work for chronic UTI and long-term UTI patients!
You see, a lot of IC diets out there really tortured me! Someone had pineapple in her salad as an IC recipe, and another had Nutella chocolate on a banana as an IC diet suggestion. I tried those and my bladder exploded into severe pain of knives stabbing into it repeatedly for 4 hours straight. I was crying on the floor for hours asking my family to kill me off. I'm not melodramatic, it was that painful. So, my Instagram is going to be full of recipes and meals that I have tried and tested for 3 days straight before publishing it. If it flares me, I do not post it on my Instagram. If it does not hurt me at all, I post it. My pain is your gain.
If you are new to this blog, here's a summary about me: Canadian Asian girl having a bizarre mix of chronic UTI + IC symptoms + Pelvic Floor Pain + Bladder Pain Syndrome. It started from a ferocious UTI back in Feb 2018 that wouldn't get killed by 5 different antibiotics. Out of nowhere, severe bladder pain started in June that put me into a wheelchair. I sometimes do a slow pace with a walking cane for a very slow walk of 5-10 minutes, then I'm back in the wheelchair from the excruciating bladder pain. Trust me, if I'm in this much intense pain, I'm going to be ultra-sensitive with the food that I publish for you. My diet might be stricter than yours, but I hope you get creative ideas from it! Happy eating!
