Who Can Help?
I created two lists of people who have helped me, varying from mildly to tremendously. The first list are medical practitioners specialized in Interstitial Cystitis and Chronic UTI, and the second list are IC & UTI support groups.
Visit Chronic UTI & IC Practitioners to find out which practitioner you would like to talk to. These are all practitioners whom I have either communicated with via e-mail, in-person, or by Skype. You must do your own legwork to research on each practitioner, and speak to other patients to hear their experiences and thoughts. You can always find reviews on the internet about each practitioner as well to guide you in your decision. I cannot advise you "who to pick or who is better" -- a question that is often asked by my blog readers. Amusingly enough, I even play a video game with one of the practitioners I listed. There may be more practitioners in the IC and chronic UTI realm who are extremely talented, but these are the ones that I have come across in my personal journey from 2018 to present.
(If you want to find their patients to inquire about first-hand experiences, you can find them in Facebook groups or forums listed in the "Ask Me" section at Question #22, under the "About Me" menu. If you want to know which practitioners looked after me, I explain in detail over at "My Story", also under the "About Me" menu.)
Visit IC & UTI Support Groups for the people who have helped me in my journey to heal. I have met countless people online in my journey. I do admit that I remain aloof and rather distant, because I don't want to be overwhelmed by too many people and too many messages. However, I did become real friends with 5 of them and I skype with 1 regularly. I also host in-person meets in Vancouver BC. I have my regular 5 friends that I correspond with, and I highly recommend that you find the right people to become friends with. My chronic UTI friends are in their 30's - 60's, and I never thought I would become super close friends with someone in her late 60's. It is amazing what brings you together! It is important to get to know patients in different recovery stages to give you more clues to your healing. I met people in the severe stage all the way to fully recovered. As I started to heal, I kept more in touch with the people who were at similar stages as me and those who were healed, because I learned more that way. Now I distance myself away from those in the severe stages because I am no longer there, and it would only bring back stress and trauma for me. As you go through different stages in your healing, you will find the right people who will click with you. If you are healing, don't stay too long with those who are not, otherwise you will not advance and find new knowledge to further accelerate your healing.
